Fragments; When Your Heart Breaks | Poems By Sa’id Sa’ad

Weight my heart
With scale and rock, and black metals
Of the blacksmith.

(I)
When you weight accurately, you would see;
Halfway cigarette with no lips to wrap
Remnants of cold tea and coke
Little salt to dry wet skin,
Watermelons, garlic and onions
For wetting dry face
Little fresh bitter leaves, for bitter taste
Sneakers, hoodie and braids,
Eyes and eyelashes, talking drum and
Lips.

(II)
Painted minds, speaking in black accent
Heaven and smiles, love in the air, naked.
Fried cakes and bars, all over;
Green leaves, flowers, memories
All packaged for anniversary present
Kisses in the eyes, lips that count
Perfume drank, so fragrance
Would grow on bodies,
Home is the heart.

(III)
Voices of beauty
When they call good tomorrow
Cloud, wind and sunshine
All bowing to  the rainbow
For makeup. Colors for choice
Laughter is beautiful, especially when flows
From precious tongues.
Perhaps, beauty is made of color.

(IV)
Weight my heart
With fragments of its emptiness
The price won’t fall.

WHEN YOUR HEART BREAKS

When your heart breaks
Eat some chocolate
And sleep under the sun
Dare not to hug your divorced bed

People often shroud their angst
But your face says things have changed
Chatter is fools pursuit
Your eyes can’t conceal that
Which your words will hide
So why imprison your tears?
Let them free!

Sorrow will always find sorrow, they say
Though we don’t choose to fall in love
But can choose to walk away
There are many kinds of love
But the rules are one; Easily Broken
So when their love immigrates
Do not hate yourself
Hate them a little bit

Do not surrender in their stead
But seek for a place on the moon
Or I will point at your heart
And show you where it aches.
People often stumble
On the slippery slopes of love
Thus, seek a love that pierces broad sun

Poets can only heal with words
And makes you dance on your fingertips
But if these words can’t do it
Let the one who is lost
Find their own way

The first “stanza” describes a scenery of being in Love. The imagery depicted paints the dream world of a wo(man) entranced by the aroma of love. The author has done a great job of putting on paper an experience that cannot be described with words.
The second “stanza” is the poets pen trying trying to console a victim of heart break.
      Great job sa’ad.

This is beautifully written. The poet talks about possible ways to deal with a broken heart, he encourages one to be strong, not to hate oneself but instead pour a little of that hate on those who made your heart ache( what this means to me is that you shouldn’t be pathetic about it, better hate them a little that to get infatuated with their love. But at the end of the it all the poet knew that all he said might not work everyone so “let the one who is lost find their own way”. I love it.
